At Ayebea's Sankofa Marketplace, we take pride in partnering with skilled artisans who bring authentic handcrafted goods from Ghana to the global market. One such talented artisan is Mr. Vitus Amoah, whose exceptional craftsmanship and dedication to his trade have made him a cherished member of our Fair Trade partnership.

About Vitus Amoah

Vitus Asane Amoah, known affectionately as "Amantise" (which means "Rethink") in his village, hails from Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region of Ghana. Mr. Amoah belongs to the Frafra tribe, a community known for its rich cultural heritage and artisanal traditions.

Currently residing in Accra, Vitus produces and sells his remarkable handcrafted goods at the Accra Art Center. His creations include genuine leather bags, African beaded necklaces, beaded bracelets, bronze bracelets, bronze earrings, baskets, and fabric fans. Each piece reflects the vibrant culture and meticulous craftsmanship passed down through generations.

A Legacy of Craftsmanship

Vitus's journey into the world of artisanal craftsmanship began under the guidance of his father, Mr. Amoah Asanbire. As the second-born child of his father’s second wife, Vitus grew up in a household where art and tradition were deeply valued. His father’s teachings and expertise in leatherwork and bead-making became the foundation upon which Vitus built his own craft.

Sustainable Livelihoods through Fair Trade

By partnering with Ayebea's Sankofa Marketplace, Vitus can reach a broader audience, sharing his unique creations with customers around the world. Every purchase of Vitus's products directly supports his livelihood, allowing him to sustain his craft and contribute to his community’s economy. This Fair Trade partnership ensures that Vitus receives fair compensation for his work, promoting ethical trade practices and empowering artisans like him to thrive.

A Bright Future Ahead

As a single artisan with five siblings, Vitus's work not only supports him but also has the potential to uplift his entire family. His dedication to his craft and the Fair Trade principles upheld by Ayebea's Sankofa Marketplace allows him to dream of a brighter future where traditional skills are preserved and celebrated.

By buying from artisans like Vitus Amoah, you are not just purchasing a beautifully handcrafted item; you are making a meaningful impact on the life of a dedicated artisan. Each product tells a story of heritage, passion, and resilience, reflecting the true spirit of Fair Trade.

Thank you for supporting Vitus Amoah and the vibrant community of artisans at Ayebea's Sankofa Marketplace. Together, we can help talented individuals like Vitus build sustainable livelihoods and continue sharing their extraordinary gifts with the world.
